To most, marketing on social media means simply posting a blog post or sharing an article to their Facebook or LinkedIn page. Some might up the ante and upload a photo on Instagram or a tweet on Twitter.
For the truly savvy, a Youtube channel provides even greater benefit. With the surge of social media over the past few years, Youtube channels are gaining in popularity because they allow your personality to come through in a visual, and audio, format—while gaining a following. Video channels can open up a dynamic avenue that helps you to connect and build an audience that identifies and grows with you. You can then develop your audience into an income stream by either offering them your products or services directly or if your audience is large enough, by earning money from advertisements on your videos.
The online “automotive adventure” show RoadKill takes this idea of a video channel to another level, by incorporating live events for their audience to participate in. This past August, Roadkill engaged the Detroit community with an event like no other by actually shutting down a section of Woodward Avenue for a good ole’ fashioned day of drag racing. Locals from the underground racing scene came out in droves for the chance to win close to $20,000 in prize money as thousands of spectators cheered on.
I was fortunate enough to attend this special event and I have to say it was amazing to see the response from the community. More than 30,000 people attended the event, bringing with them a boost to Pontiac’s local economy for the day. Watch the vid here for the highlights of the day!
